Winter School on Speech and Audio Processing (WiSSAP) provides a forum for students, researchers and professionals to enhance their background and get exposed to intricate research areas in the field of speech and audio signal processing. The schools constitute of a theme topic and tutorials surrounding it. WiSSAP 2014 is the ninth one in the series, following the successful earlier winter schools: WiSSAP 2006, WiSSAP 2007, WiSSAP 2008, WiSSAP 2009, WiSSAP 2010, WiSSAP 2011, WiSSAP 2012, and WiSSAP 2013 focusing on different topics in speech and audio processing.
WiSSAP 2014 is targeted mainly towards post-graduate students, college teachers/faculty in educational institutions and scientists/researchers in research laboratories/industry who are interested in this area and would like to learn more about this area from some of the best researchers in the world.
WISSAP 2014 held from January 17th to 20th, 2014 is being organized by Centre of Excellence in Signal Processing (CESP), International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad.
The theme of WiSSAP 2014 is Deep Learning for Multi-Lingual Speech Processing. The exponential growth of audio and speech data, coupled with increase in computing power, has led to increasing popularity of deep learning using neural networks. The use of a generative, layer-by-layer pre-training method for initializing the weights before running the discriminative back-propagation learning has triggered the raise of deep neural networks and its successful application in speech recognition and synthesis. WiSSAP 2014 aims to provide theory and applications of Deep Learning for Multi-Lingual Speech Processing.
